MeshLinx Wireless And The City of Colleyville, Texas, Announce The Deployment of A Mesh Wireless Broadband Pilot Network PLANO, Texas----July 1, 2005--MeshLinx Wireless, a provider of citywide Wireless Mesh Networking Solutions, today announced that it is partnering with the City of Colleyville to establish a Wi-Fi area wide pilot network.
The MeshLinx Wireless solution incorporates mesh technology using Wi-Fi (802.11 IEEE standards). The network is interoperable with other Wi-Fi 802.11 networks, as well as having Wi-Max 802.16 capabilities. The technology is self-healing and self-routing with no single point of failure. It also has the capability to be unaffected by a general power failure of up to two weeks utilizing Meshlinx's advanced battery technology. The MeshLinx solution is a unique system that can deliver gross data rates up to 54Mbps to the subscriber and 432Mbps link to the wire/fiber connection. This technology is also designed as a citywide solution to create a single integrated communication platform such as for First Responders and cost saving applications such as automated meter reading, remote maintenance of facilities, video surveillance and traffic light control. The ability to view real-time streaming video and have the ability to incorporate Voice Over Internet (VoIP) will find many other applications within the city. The MeshLinx wireless network could deliver the long desired "last mile" broadband solution to the city's constituents. First Responders can benefit by having the capability to receive a broadband connection while mobile. Jack Harrod, a MeshLinx Director, says: "Using our unique architecture and implementing it with standard Wi-Fi and Wi-MAX equipment, we are able to cost leverage the vast quantities of Wi-Fi hardware produced worldwide every day. This will provide Colleyville and other cities the best mesh network performance available at the lowest cost. This is a true communications revolution. With the ability to provide our cities, both large and small, with low cost wireless convergence of voice, video, and data. First Responders can react much more effectively in the event of another 9/11 or other emergencies as well as allow the citizens and businesses to reap tremendous benefits within the coverage areas."
