20% saved: Revised courier deal fruitful for Pfizer
Many of the projects that Expense Reduction Analysts work on prove to be personally rewarding, especially when they involve clients that provide services beneficial to entire communities.
A great example of this kind of client was when analysts in Mexico helped one of the world’s leading research-based global pharmaceutical companies achieve significant savings on their courier costs
Established in Mexico in 1951, Pfizer today has a presence in 60 countries, where they develop, manufacture and market prescription medicines for both people and animals. While this may sound like a niche area, the company actually produces a substantial range of consumer healthcare products.
The industry is one that demands a high sense of responsibility, which in turn means Pfizer is constantly seeking ways to innovate, improve efficiency and deliver more value to the physicians, patients and communities it serves.
So, when Luisa Barraza, Standards End Processes Manager of Pfizer Mexico, approached ERA in a bid to reduce its business costs, Expense Reduction Analyst Sylvia Perales understood the need for the company’s strict standards to be maintained.
Working with Luisa and her team, Sylvia began investigating several categories, including the company’s courier expenses.
“After we completed an in depth examination of their courier expenditure, we were able to make several recommendations that, once they were put in place, enabled Pfizer Mexico to put 20 % back on the bottom line,” Sylvia revealed.
"ERA as delivered good results because it put together detailed analysis of our business expenditures which we would ever be able to do ourselves in the short-term," says Luisa Barraza, standards end processes manager of Pfizer Mexico. "ERA 's knowledge of operating costs enabled our company to improve business efficiency."
With further studies in Pfizer’s outgoings still to be completed, Sylvia expects to find several more areas in which the company can save. With significant savings already going back to the bottom line, Luisa was pleased with the results.
"ERA has delivered good results because it put together detailed analysis of our business expenditures which we would ever be able to do ourselves in the short-term," she said.
